William Gibson M-51 Parka Black

Black version of the "M-51 Parka" from the Buzz Rickson's x William Gibson collection.

The M-51 Parka by Buzz Rickson's is an updated version of the M-48 Parka, which was developed during World War II. To protect the US forces from the cold, a layering system was developed so that the parka could be worn over normal clothing. While the original model was made of thick cotton sateen, Oxford cotton nylon was used from 1952, which also made the parka much lighter.

The idea of designing an all-black collection goes back to a fictional black MA-1 jacket by Buzz Rickson's, which the science fiction author designed for his protagonist in his book "Pattern Recognition". Buzz Rickson's brought the never-before-seen jacket to life and thus laid the foundation for the unique militaria collaboration "Type Black".
