Black version of the M-65 parka from the Buzz Rickson's x William Gibson collection. The M-65 was introduced in 1965 as an improved successor to the M-51 for the US Armed Forces – with the familiar fishtail hem and the generous, functional silhouette that remains iconic to this day.
The main difference lies in the material: while the M-51 was made of heavy satin fabric, the M-65 uses a lighter, quick-drying and robust Oxford fabric made of cotton and nylon – designed for changeable weather and long-lasting use.
The all-black collection is based on a fictional black MA-1 jacket by Buzz Rickson's, designed by author William Gibson for his protagonist in his novel Pattern Recognition . Buzz Rickson's actually brought this jacket to market – thus laying the foundation for the "Type Black" military memorabilia collaboration.
