The "BR42529 M-51 Trousers" are from the William Gibson Collection by Buzz Rickson's – a tribute to the classic US Army field trousers, reinterpreted in deep black.
The original version was introduced in 1951 as part of the M-51 Cold Weather System – a layered clothing system designed to protect soldiers from wind, rain, and cold. Underwear, wool base layer, field trousers, and a field jacket – each piece functional and loosely cut to retain body heat and ensure freedom of movement.
Made from dense cotton satin, the reverse side of which is used for the outer layer – robust to the touch, windproof and with a characteristic texture. Inside are loops for attaching suspender clips – an authentic detail from military practice.
The idea for the black collection originated from the fictional black MA-1 rifle by Buzz Rickson's, described by author William Gibson in his novel Pattern Recognition . Buzz Rickson's brought this vision to life, thus creating the foundation for the unique Type Black range – classic military memorabilia in timeless black.
